WILLIAM JOSEPH EASTERLIN, age 66 of Maplewood, joined his parents in Heaven on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 10:40 PM. He was born on November 10, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Frances and Kathryn (Feil) Easterlin.
On October 10, 1998 he married the former Susan Heintz who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Jennifer (Benjamin) Bruns of Perrysburg; Melissa (Joslin) Kies of Minster; Jessica (Seth) Jewell of VanWert, two sons, Anthony Easterlin of Bowling Green, and Joseph Easterlin of Maumee, two step-children, Caroline Kinsella of Dayton, and John (Elizabeth) Kinsella of Delphos, 12 grandchildren, three sisters, Karen Workman of Canal Winchester, Patricia Luzader, and Colleen Vara both of the Columbus area, mother-in-law, Betty Heintz of Maplewood, sister-in-law, Cindra (Martha Webb) Schneider of Baton Rouge, LA, brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Heintz of Pasadena, CA, and Paul (Robin) Heintz Jr. of Sidney.
Mr. Easterlin was a 1973 graduate of St. Francis DeSales of Columbus and earned his BS in engineering from Wright State University. A Vietnam Veteran, Bill served his country in the US Army, Air Force and National Guard. He worked 20 years as an engineer at Huffy in Celina, then became a truck driver for Case Carriage AO Smith, Rising Sun and BD Transportation, the last five years as a team driver with his wife.
He was a member of the VFW, and lifetime member of the American Legion and AMVETS holding multiple offices in the latter. He was past president and trustee of the Eagles Lodge in Sidney. He will be remembered by many for his excellent karaoke singing, and active support for the Shelby County Animal Shelter and SCARF with little tolerance for anyone who abused animals or children.
William was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and New Orleans Saints fan. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and the garden he shared with his wife.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Oates officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 8 PM.
