WANDA FAY WOODDELL, 88, of Somerset, Kentucky, formerly of Sidney, passed away at 1:11 P.M. Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Lake Cumberland Hospital in Somerset. She was born on September 11, 1936 in Smithtown, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Elmer and Ella (Garland) Jones.
On December 24, 1952 she married Marvin Howard Wooddell, who survives along with their three children, Lisa (Tim) Clayton of Sidney, Lori (Louis) Tucker of Somerset, KY, and Lynn (Jim) Rookard of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren, Bruce (Crystal) Clayton, Josh (Deserae) Rookard, and Jacob (Deven) Rookard; seven great-grandchildren, Elijah Bruce Clayton, EJ Rookard, Brantley Rookard, Marilyn Rookard, Tatum Rookard, Tulsa Rookard, and Stone Riggs Rookard; six siblings, Imogene “Jean” Andrews, Clinton (Irene) Jones, Betty Davis, all three of Sidney, Susan Brown of Florida, Alice (Jerry) Alexander, and Sherry (Ron) Tackett, both of Sidney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by on brother, James Jones; and one sister, Barbara Johnson.
After marrying Marvin, Wanda began working at Murphy’s Candy Counter in downtown Sidney, later joining LouJean’s Dress Shop next door. She then spent 18 dedicated years at Copeland Corporation. Following her retirement, she and Marvin continued working side by side as dog groomers for 20 years, a role that reflected her deep love for animals.
Throughout her life, Wanda was known for the love and care she gave to her many four-legged companions. She will be missed dearly by her beloved cats, Katie and Snowball.
A passionate traveler, Wanda cherished exploring the United States with her family, particularly alongside Marvin. Wanda was deeply loved and will be fondly remembered by her family and all who were fortunate to know her.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 1 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Wanda’s memory.
