Walter (Wally) Gillman of Sidney passed away on July 12, 2024, at Fair Haven Nursing Home.
He was born on September 27, 1935, to the late Walter and Elizabeth (Bush) Gillman. He was preceded in death by sisters Louise Clayton, Betty Riddle and Eva Jane Watkins.
On April 6, 1953, he married Rebecca (Becky) Young who survives with their 3 children, Jeffrey Gillman, Lisa Sparks (Mark Coverstone) and Kevin (Kathy) Gillman. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Robert Sparks, Brittni (Derek) Aikin, Kaitlin (Mack) Knupp and Kara (Kyle) Maurer. One great grandson, Haiden Kelly also survives and one great grandchild on the way. One grandson, Nathan Sparks is deceased.
Wally proudly served in the United States Marine Corp for 3 years. He attended Ohio State University and graduated from University of Cincinnati. Wally retired from Dayton Children's Hospital as head of the MIS Department.
He was a lifelong farmer in Shelby County which he thoroughly enjoyed along with his sons Jeff and Kevin. He was a member of Stokes Lodge #305.
Masonic Services will be on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 6:45 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home directed by Stokes Lodge #305. Friends may visit in remembrance of Wally and his son Jeffrey (Jeff) Gillman from 4:00 PM until the time of service. Graveside Services to be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 2:30 PM for him and his son Jeffrey (Jeff) Gillman at Cedar Point Cemetery.
