Virginia L. (Smith) Weymer

VIRGINIA L. WEYMER, age 99 of Sidney, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at 6:50 PM at Fair Haven Shelby County Home. She was born on July 11, 1924 in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Paul J. and MaryAnn (Ostendorf) Smith. On May 29, 1943 she married Robert Paul Weymer who preceded her in death May 24, 2010.

She is survived by son, Fred Weymer of Elida, OH. She was preceded in death by seven siblings: Pauline Randall, William Smith, Paul J. Smith Jr, Elizabeth Akers, Mary Lou Gray, Gerald W. Smith, and Evelyn Roegner.

Mrs. Weymer retired as a Clerk for United Telephone. She was a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Virginia was an excellent seamstress who loved to sew and make her own beautiful clothing. In years past, she enjoyed bowling, fishing on Rice Lake in Canada, and traveling out west with her husband. She loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. In Virginia's words "Hope, Peace, Joy, Love, Think Better, Live Better, Jesus I trust in you".

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Rev. Jane Madden officiating. Burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery in Lockington. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
