VIRGINIA EILEEN THOMPSON, 82 of Sidney, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 6:25 AM at Wilson Health. She was born on October 12, 1943, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Bernard “Bernie” and Martha “Marty” (Ferguson) Stewart.
On September 3, 1961 in the Quincy Methodist Church Virginia married her husband of 64 years, Wallace “Ed” Thompson who survives along with three children: Chris Thompson of Sidney, Naomi (David) Sluss of Houston, and Missi (Tony) Brandewie of Greensboro, NC, three sisters: Trudy (Art) Hughes of Satellite Beach, FL, Becky Jenkins of Piqua, and Aunalee Hess of DeGraff, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother, Scott Stewart, and brother-in-law, Richard Jenkins.
Virginia was a graduate of Riverside Local School District class of 1961. She was the owner/operator of three different H&R Block offices, but her greatest joy was working as a school bus driver for the kids at Hardin-Houston Schools.
For years, Virginia enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV along with their family and had visited all 50 states as well as 14 different countries.
Virginia was a member of Sidney First Methodist Church where a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jane Madden officiating. Her final resting place will be at Fairview Cemetery in Quincy at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
