VIOLA BRANSON, 91, of Piqua, passed away at 8:46 A.M. Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at her residence. She was born on May 6, 1930 in Dewitt, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Felix and Ludena (Hensley) Smith. In 1946 she married Ed Baker who preceded her in death. In 1991 she married Clarence Branson, who also preceded her in death.
Viola is survived by two children, Janice (Don) Jones of Somerset, KY and Kenneth Baker of Piqua; three stepchildren, Jean Napier, Frank Branson and Clarence Grant Branson; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Meade of Sidney and Bobbi Jean Simpson of Dewitt, KY; special friend Patty Smith; and her caregivers, Christina McDermott, Megan Mills-Skeens and Sherry Skeens. She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Myrtle Baker; and siblings, Allie Grubb, Alfred, Gracie, William and Virgil Smith.
Viola was a woman of great faith who loved reading her bible and praying. She was known to love on everybody and was a tremendous prayer warrior. Viola enjoyed the company of her cats and her pet cockatiel, Peachy. She was a loving and genuine soul that others knew they could count on to pray for them, even if it meant calling her in the middle of the night. She will be loved and dearly missed.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Travis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua.
