VERONICA C. COUNTS, 83, of Anna, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:15 AM at her home. She was born on April 9, 1933 in Haynes, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Anton and Eva (Haag) Ihle.
On November 23, 1951 in Essington, PA Veronica married her husband of 65 years, Edward F. Counts, while he was serving in the Navy. Edward survives along with three daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Schemmel, Teresa (John) Aselage, and Diane (Dave) Stephens all of Anna, nine siblings, Dorothy Neal of Nebraska, Mary Ann Holobinko of Florida, Loretta Raven of Nebraska, Lawrence (Carol) Ihle, Richard (Ruth) Ihle both of Anna, Eugene Ihle of Cleveland, Casper Ihle of Lakeview, Patty Ihle of Virginia, and Francie Seamonds of North Dakota, nine grandchildren, Robert II (Susan) Schemmel, Christa (Mark) Oen both of Troy, Gregory (Stephanie) Aselage of Liberty Township, Bradley Aselage of Southbend, IN, Nicholas Aselage of West Chester, Lucas (Katie) Stephens of Ft. Loramie, Adam Stephens, Landon Stephens both of West Chester, and Paige Stephens of Anna, and great-grandchildren, Chas, Carter and Olivia Schemmel, Kathryn and Andrew Oen all of Troy, and Ethan and Philip Aselage of Liberty Township. She was preceded in death by six siblings, Edward Ihle, Genevieve Niorhas, Philip Ihle, Matilda Kay, Sebastian and Jerry Ihle.
Mrs. Counts was a homemaker. She loved baking, cooking, and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in McCartyville, and she was a volunteer for the Holy Angels Soup Kitchen in Sidney.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 9377 State Route 119W Anna, with Father Steve Mondiek officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9 AM until the hour of service at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney.
