THEODORE W. SHORT, 74 of Minster, formerly of Sidney, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at 10:10 PM at his home. He was born on December 9, 1950, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late Thomas and Thelma (Langehorst) Short.
On January 11, 1974, Tedd married his devoted wife of 51 years, Judy (Otte) who survives along with their two daughters: Tara (Rob) Sibert, and Kelly (Aaron) Edwards both of Sidney, six grandchildren: Thomas, Landon, and Madison Sibert, and Clayton, Carter, and Callie Edwards, and two nieces, Taylor and Hannah Lee. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Allison Sibert, sister, Teresa Lee, and parents-in-law, Albert and Lenore (Barhorst) Otte.
Tedd was a graduate of Sidney High School Class of 1969. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marines, where he served in Okinawa from 1970 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. Following his service in the Marine Corps he attended Sinclair Community College. He had a strong work ethic and was self-employed for four years in construction prior to a career at GTE/Verizon where he worked for 30 years as a facilities technician.
Tedd was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church for 20 years, St. Michael’s for the past 25 years, member of Knights of Columbus, Tri County Van Club, and Southern Ohio Van Council.
Tedd had a quick humor, entertaining with stories of growing up in Sidney during the 50’s and 60’s, and working as a telephone man. He loved his daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending the school and sporting events of his grandchildren. His many interests included listening to Rock & Roll music, playing drums, attending concerts, collecting vinyl records, playing cards, fishing, and boating on the lake. He had an enduring friendship among his vanning friends, and had a large collection of Matchbox vans that only another Vanner could appreciate.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Steve Mondiek officiating. Burial with full military honors by the US Marine Corps and Sidney Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM, and on Friday from 9 to 10 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
