Stephen "Steve" E. Yates

STEPHEN E. YATES, 76, of Sidney, passed away at 12:04 A.M. Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at his residence. He was born on April 3, 1948 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of the late Earl and Gertrude (Metz) Yates. On December 27, 2001 he married the former Karen Bray, who survives in Sidney.

Also surviving are his three daughters, Joy (Travis) Mayabb of West Milton, OH, Michelle Yates of Piqua, OH, and Angie (Will) Bray of Sidney; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two siblings, Ed (Barb) Yates of West Palm Beach, FL, and Linda (Ralph) Boardwine of Wytheville, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

Steve was a veteran of the United States Army and served from 1968-70. He worked in maintenance for Copeland Corporation in Sidney for more than 30 years, retiring in 2018. Steve was a member of the Sidney and Troy Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Sidney AMVETS. He was a skilled pool player and never missed a poker game. Steve was known locally for always wearing his “NO PROBLEM” hat and having a joke to tell. His greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with them all and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Steve’s wishes, he will be cremated, and no services are to be held. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to Steve’s family at our website, www.cromesfh.com
