STACEY MARIE CAREY, 70, of Sidney, passed away at 3:30 A.M. Friday, March 13, 2026 at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 8, 1955 in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harry and Clara (Pike) Carey.
Stacey is survived by her life-long partner, John Widney; children, Angela Griner, Eric (Alane) Bertsch, Rickey (Tiffany) Carey, and Trey Carey; grandchildren, Danielle Branscum, Britney Swob, Lailah Nelson, Daniel Keith, and Christina Nation; ten great-grandchildren, sister, Shelly Rexroth; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by siblings, Edward Pike, Jayne Carey, Mike Carey, and James Carey.
Stacey worked for Monarch Machine Tool for nearly 15 years and later joined Stolle Corporation, where she served in several roles over the years, most recently as a clerk in the shipping and receiving department.
A faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sidney, Stacey found great joy in caring for others. For nearly 20 years she served as a foster mother, opening her home and heart to many children. She was a loving mother and a grandmother to countless children,
many of whom were not her own but loved her just the same.
Stacey enjoyed babysitting, keeping her home neat and welcoming, never missing her favorite soap operas, and collecting and displaying carousel figurines. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be profoundly missed.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 6 PM. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Edmiston officiating.
