Saundra Lea Gepfrey, 91, recently of Troy, formerly of Sidney, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at her residence surrounded by family. She was born February 26, 1935, in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Horace and Helen Shroyer.
On May 11, 1957, Saundra married the late Paul F. Gepfrey, who preceded her in death on October 9, 2025. Saundra is survived by ten children, Julia Rich of New Albany, Jeff (Rita) Gepfrey of Sidney, Greg (Joyce) Gepfrey of Kettlersville, David (Jennifer) Gepfrey of Piqua, Jerry (Margie) Gepfrey of Anna, Lisa (Scott) Patton of Union, Susan (Brian) Moloney of Sidney, Denise (Rex) Wismar of Sidney, Alan Gepfrey of Sidney, and Connie (Jeff) Brenning of Westerville; 31 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Connie Wattercutter of Anna; sibling-in-laws, Willis (Pat) Gepfrey of Elba, MI, Miriam Macke of Mansfield, Fay Gepfrey of Laughlin, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Saundra is preceded in death by her son, John Gepfrey; son-in-law, Leonard Rich; sibling-in-laws, Vernon Wattercutter, Rosetta (Herman) Baltes, Gene (Kathy) Gepfrey, Kate (Merle) Frankhouser, Theresa (Ivo) Albers, Jim Gepfrey, Maynard Macke.
A 1953 graduate of Piqua Catholic High School, Saundra worked as a registered nurse at Dorothy Love and attended Holy Angels Catholic Church, where she was a member for 65 years. She was a lifetime member of the Altar Rosary Society. She also volunteered with FISH in Sidney, as well as the Elizabeth New Life Center.
When Saundra was not helping in the community, she was at home caring for her large family. Whether baking her famous pies in the kitchen or changing diapers, Saundra always had a smile and a great amount of love for her family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, feeding others, sewing, volunteering, and following Paul around.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park in Covington. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 1 to 4 P.M. and on Monday from 9:30 to 10 A.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
