RUBY RAE LYME, 91, of Sidney passed away at 9:35 A.M. Friday, January 29, 2021 at Wilson Health. She was born on May 18, 1929 in Jackson Center, Ohio, the daughter of the late Hubert "Ray" and Armetta (Whitney) McBride. On June 19, 1949 she married Herbert "Pete" Lyme, who preceded her in death on January 9, 1993.
Ruby is survived by her two daughters, Sue (Jeff) Blackford and Nancy (Scott) Garrett, both of Sidney; six grandchildren, Ty (Diana) Blackford, Brandon (Emily) Blackford, Kent (Susan) Blackford, Jett (Amber) Blackford, Nathanael (Amanda) Garrett and Nick (Buffy) Garrett; nineteen great-grandchildren; two nieces, LaRie (John) Hull and Linda Miller; and two nephews, Jim (Rosa) McBride and Herman (Dixie) McBride. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond McBride Jr. and Glenn McBride.
Ruby was retired from Holloway where she worked as a seamstress for more than 15 years. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Sidney. Her life before children involved much travel and motorcycle riding with her husband Pete. Their passion for traveling continued throughout their years together, visiting 48 states, Canada and Mexico, and often bringing their family along with them. They belonged to the Rambling Ohio Winnies for many years. Ruby was a great cook and known for her lemon meringue pies. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor James Alter officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church in Ruby's memory.
