Ron Cromes Jr., age 50, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on April 9, 1974, in Sidney, Ohio, Ron was the cherished only son of the late Ron Cromes Sr. and Marsha Price Cromes, who survives him.
A proud 1992 graduate of Sidney High School, Ron continued his academic journey at Bowling Green University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1996, graduating in the top 10% of his class. Despite being born legally blind, Ron’s determination and perseverance were an inspiration to all who knew him, as he not only completed his education but also overcame challenges to achieve significant personal milestones, including learning how to drive.
Ron’s professional career began in government, where he worked for the IRS in Richmond, VA. It was there that he met and married Sherry Landry. The couple later moved to Springfield, MO, in 2011, when Ron transitioned to a new role as a teacher in the Springfield Public School System. Though their marriage ended, Ron and Sherry remained close friends, sharing mutual respect and support throughout the years.
Faith was a cornerstone of Ron’s life. While living in Sidney, he was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church, where he found joy in teaching Sunday school. Over the years, he continued to inspire others through his spiritual reflections and teachings, which he frequently shared on social media.
Although an only child, Ron was blessed to be part of a large and loving extended family. His warm heart, deep faith, and remarkable resilience touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his beliefs.
Ron will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a source of light and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 4:30 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday 3:30 PM until the time of service. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cromesfh.com
