Roberta Arlene (Deal) Hughes

ROBERTA ARLENE HUGHES, 76 of Sidney, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, at 4:54 PM at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 27, 1949, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert and Marie (Catalana) Deal. On June 27, 1970, she married Merle Eugene Hughes who preceded her in death February 14, 2012.

Roberta is survived by two children: Michael Jason (Leslie) Hughes of Sidney, and Vincetta Jarrett Knight of Marion, one sister, Patty Cagle of Piqua, six grandchildren: Brandon (Rachel) Hughes, Devon Hughes, Collin (Sarah) Hughes, Alex and Zach Crim, and Rebecca (Chris) Sherlin, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four siblings: Marlene Johnson, Vincetta, June, and Michael Deal.

Roberta worked for 38 years as a service representative for Norcold in Sidney. She was also a photographer for the Sidney Daily New. Most recently she worked in retail at Walgreens. She was a very kind and generous soul who didn’t know a stranger. She loved her family and will be dearly missed.

Funeral Services for Roberta will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Roberta’s final place of rest will be at Shelby Memory Gardens at a later date.
