Robert E. Cole

Robert E. Cole, age 82, of Sidney, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 8:28 PM at Ohio Living Dorothy Love. He was born on February 5, 1941, the son of Merle and Virginia (Stolle) Cole in Springfield, OH.

He is survived by his loving family, wife Barbara (Grieshop) Cole, daughters, Angela Smith, Julie (Eric) Mestemaker, and Lori (Steve) Petitjean, grandchildren, Tyler (Stephanie) Wiford, Jordan (Greg) Marshall, Kassandra Mestemaker, Carolyn Mestemaker, Daniel Mestemaker, Haley Petitjean, and Grace Petitjean, great grandchildren, Lily, Lucas, Emerson, and Cameron, siblings, Jack (Linda) Cole, Valerie (Steve) Gillespie, Beverly Staudt, and several nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Botkins High School in 1959, he became a long-time employee with Ross Aluminum Foundry in Sidney, except for the two years he spent serving his country in the Army from 1963-1965.

His joys in life consisted of spending time with family and friends, taking long walks, tending to his flower gardens, watching the changing weather conditions and The Weather Channel endlessly, waxing his 1966 Chevy Impala, and golfing with only 3 golf clubs. Now he gets to see it all from a bird's eye view. All who knew him will miss his very unique sense of humor and onery smile. He will be greatly missed by all including many at Dorothy Love and Ohio's Hospice where he spent his last two years.

Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home will be hosting visitation hours on Wednesday, November 8 from 4-7pm. A memorial service will take place on November 9 at 10:00am in the Amos Chapel at Dorothy Love for close family and friends who would like to attend. A gathering will follow with food and refreshments. Robert will be laid to rest at a later date in Graceland Cemetery.
