RICKEY ”RICK” ALAN BARTRUG, 71, of Sidney, Ohio, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. He was born on October 7, 1953, in St. Marys, Ohio, the son of the late Kenneth Ralph Bartrug and Wanda Eileen (Steele) Bartrug.
Rick was also preceded in death by three sisters, Denise Bartrug, Debra Strunk, and Robin Fosnight, and a brother-in-law, George Latimer.
Rick leaves behind three sons, Ricky Bartrug, Marcus (Brooke) Bartrug, and Kenneth Bartrug; twelve grandchildren, Tristan, Jamison, Caleb, Kaylyn, Austin, Elijah, Nathaniel, Natalie, Christopher, Liberty, Laikyn, and Adeara; one great-grandchild, Hallie Mae; and siblings, Connie Bundy, Maurice “Skip” Bartrug, Linda Williamson, and Brenda Latimer.
Rick was known for his laid-back spirit and love for life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed a good game of cards, especially euchre, playing his guitar and Sunday mornings spent listening to Breakfast with the Beatles.
Though he could be a grouch at times, it was all part of his charm—his way of keeping everyone on their toes. Beneath that tough exterior was a heart full of love, a sharp wit, and a loyal spirit that those closest to him cherished deeply.
Rick will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends, the legacy he leaves behind and the laughter, music, and good times he brought to many.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 1 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until the time of service. Rick’s final resting place will be at Cedar Point Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers: grandsons, Tristan Bartrug, Jamison Bartrug, Caleb Bartrug, Austin Bartrug, Elijah Bartrug, Nathaniel Bartrug, Christopher Bartrug, and nephew Dave Darnell.
