Richard "Rick" Lee Slagle

RICHARD "RICK" LEE SLAGLE, age 62 of Sidney, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at 10:10 AM at the James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on November 19, 1960 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Melvin (Dottie Baker) Slagle of Florida and the late Alma (Parke) Simindinger.

On October 18, 1986, Rick married Linda (Popp) who survives along with three children; Amanda (Andy) Sanford of Celina, Levi (Dana) Slagle of Linton, IN, and Miranda (Brent Tippie) Slagle Meyer of Ft. Loramie, eight granddaughters; MaKayla, Brianna, Audrey, Rylee, Alivia, Kinlee, Reagan, and Adelynn, and four siblings; Howard Slagle, Jeff (Christine) Slagle, Kathy Christman, and Christopher "Skip" (Christy) Simindinger all of Sidney. He was preceded in death by brother, Timothy Slagle.

Mr. Slagle graduated from Shakamak High School in Jasonville, IN. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1981 to 1985.

Rick served 22 years as a lineman for AES Energy (formerly DP&L). He was a member of Sidney Elks Lodge (Exalted Ruler), Sidney Loyal Order of Moose, Sidney Fraternal Order of Eagles, Piqua VFW, and Sidney American Legion Post 217.

A Celebration of Rick's Life will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Rev. Philip K. Chilcote officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
