RAYMOND ALLEN WALTERS, 80, of Sidney passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at 5:53 P.M. at Wilson Health. He was born on November 13, 1941 in Bellefontaine, Ohio, the son of Josiah and Ruth (Miller) Walters.
On September 20, 1964 he married the former Ruth Ann Orsborne, who survives, along with their three children, Rodney A. (Lisa) Walters of DeGraff, Amy L. (Robert) Jeffries of Sidney, and Kevin R. Walters of Bellefontaine; six grandchildren, DeAnna (Mike Coy), Denice (Mike Meade), James, Chareasa, Madison and Colby; five great-grandchildren, Julia, Rebekka, Ben, Devin and Lilly; and one half-sister, Lena Coleman of Bellefontaine. He was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Walters.
Ray was a career truck driver and drove many years for Spring Creek Corporation, and later for Roe Enterprises Inc. He enjoyed Reds baseball and watching NASCAR. Ray himself drove race cars years ago for the Shady Bowl Speedway. Ray volunteered much of his time to distribute food for Agape. He was an avid outdoorsman and took pride in making his property look nice. Ray cared greatly for his church and church family where he served as an usher. He was a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather.
Ray was a longtime member of Sidney Apostolic Temple where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 12 P.M. with Rev. Mark Hina officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service. Ray’s final resting place will be at Greenwood Cemetery in DeGraff. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
