Ralph Junior Copeland

RALPH JUNIOR COPELAND, 91, of Anna passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 10:40 PM at his residence. He was born on January 29, 1930 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late Harold and Christine (Meyer) Copeland. On April 19, 1975, Ralph married the former Anna Louise Beaver, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by four children, John L. (Betty Bird) Copeland of Quincy, Tina M. (Brian) Schaffer of St. Paris, Donald P. Copeland and Alicia M. Smith both of Anna; five grandchildren, Kyle Bird of Columbus, John Copeland II of Wapakoneta, Jasmine Bird of Sidney, Jenteal West of Troy and Tyler (Che-Lynn) Phillips of Sidney; two great-grandchildren, Nathan Phillips of Sandy Hook, KY and Willow Phillips of Sidney; sister, Patricia Koons of Hemet, CA; two sisters-in-law, Diane Copeland of Sidney and Diana Copeland of Farmsville, NC; very special family friend, Valerie Burks of Crossville, TN; three nephews and many great nephew and nieces and great-great nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by three siblings, Carol Cullson, Virginia Ailes and Harold Copeland, stepmother, Pearl Copeland, brother-in- law, Larwance Cullson, bother-in-law, Ralph Ailes, four nephews and one great nephew.

Mr. Copeland retired after many years working for WOPAC as a Machine Operator. Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded a Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze stars. Ralph attended Anna United Methodist Church. He was an avid jogger and walker. Ralph participated in many surrounding 5 k and 10 k runs. He was known in the town of Anna for his running and walking. Ralph has received many ribbons and trophies. He retired his running shoes on his 70th birthday. Ralph sang in a quartet with family growing up. His favorite song was Red River Valley that he sang many times with longtime friend Larry Gratz and special family friend Valerie Burks. Ralph lived a full long life, had a lot of history to share with others. His wife, children and grandchildren were his world.

A Memorial Services will be held Tuesday November 23, 2021 at 5 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave with Rev. Randy Locker officiating. Friends may visit from 2 PM up until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Health Hospice in Ralph's memory.
