Ralph James “Jim” Boyer, Age 90 of Greenville passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023 at the Brethren’s Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. He was born on May 8th, 1932 in Sidney, Ohio to the late Frederick and Mary Alice (Snyder) Boyer.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Greenville, Ohio and served on church council and various committees throughout his active years.
After serving two years in the U.S. Army, Jim returned home and married LaRose K. (Blakeley) on September 12, 1954 and began a lifelong career in agriculture. He had a dairy herd, raised cattle and hogs in addition to farming 400 acres. After moving from Anna, Ohio to Greenville in 1968 Jim went to work for Producers Livestock Association from where he retired as market manager. He also worked for Keller Grain & Feed in Horatio. He was an avid John Deere enthusiast and collected many tractors and JD novelties. You would see him proudly displaying his tractors at the Great Darke Co Fair and the Power of the Past.
Jim is survived by his wife of 68 years, LaRose, three children, Michael J. (Lu Ann) Boyer of Greenville, Jeffrey J. (Rhonda) Boyer of Rome, Georgia, Thomas J. Boyer of Greenville and a sister, Susie J. Smiley of Columbus, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by two brothers, Donald and Frederick Boyer. He was a very proud grandpa of 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Amanda (Justin) Hines (Maleah and Mylee) of Greenville, Megan (Steven) Pagett (Willa and Asher) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Andrea Boyer of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Ryan (Noelle) Boyer (Nolan, Austin and Griffin) of Havelock, North Carolina.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family with burial to follow at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S.
