It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Phyllis Rose Albaugh, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on May 31, 2025. She was 94 years old and passed away at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
Phyllis began her journey on August 21, 1930, in Grafton, Ohio, born to Henry and Agnes Vodarski. After graduating from Grafton High School in 1948, she embarked on a remarkable life. On June 12, 1948, she married the love of her life, William Albaugh, and they celebrated a wonderful 60 years of marriage together.
Phyllis was a woman who embraced life's simple pleasures. She worked at the former O'mart Department store from 1967 to 1980, but her true passions lay in her home and garden. She loved to read, knit, and fill her home with freshly baked goods. Tending to her flowers brought her immense peace and joy in the outdoors. She also had a lively spirit for playing cards, sharing laughter and good times with family and friends around the card table. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest treasures, and she took immense pride in watching them grow. Phyllis and Bill cherished their years of travel, especially the many happy winters they spent together in Florida.
She leaves behind a loving legacy in her children: Carey (Cathy) Albaugh, Brenda (George) Wyen and Kristi (Tom) Roll; her ten grandchildren: Chad (Danielle) Wyen, Travis (Melanie) Wyen, Matthew Wyen, Shawn Wyen, Ryan (Stephanie) Wheeler, Amanda (Mike) Beam, Abby (Aaron) Roll-Rokjer, Katie (Mark) Speaks, Angela (Troy) Orndorff, and Patty Wheeler; her 18 great-grandchildren: Patrick, Gracelynn & Addalynn Wyen, Mylee & Madison Wyen, Jack Wyen, Audrey & George Wyen, Tyler (Emma) & Kinsey Beam, Kylee, Samantha & William Wheeler, Vera Rose Speaks, Remi & Henry Rokjer, Presley & Jackson Orndorff; and her brother-in-law, Roger Schroer. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
Phyllis is now reunited with her husband, Bill Albaugh; her sister, Josephine Worley; her brother, Ronald Vodarski; her in-laws, Darrell and Jeanne Albaugh and Freida Schroer; and two nephews, who preceded her in death.
Funeral Services for Phyllis will be held Monday, June 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Gutman officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
