PEARL MEADE, 88, of Sidney, passed away at 9:34 A.M. Sunday, March 22, 2026 at 9:34 A.M. at her residence. She was born on April 15, 1937 in Dewitt, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Felix and Ludena (Hensley) Smith. On March 17, 1955 she married Virgil Hooker, who preceded her in death on June 16, 1982. On October 26, 1996 she married David Meade, who preceded her in death October 18, 2016.
Pearl is survived by five children Larry (Pam) Hooker, Cliff (Kim) Hooker, Joyce (Robert) Bey, Barb (Ken) Brown, and Tina (Michael) Van De Grift; son-in-law, Randy Hughes; step-children, Brenda (Bruce) Laughter, Jamie Meade, and Mike Meade; grandchildren, Michael Hooker, Jamie Kirtley, Chris (Julie) Roediger, Ryan (Amber) Hooker, Jace (Kayleigh) Hooker, Kaitlyn Pearl (Tyler) Hill, Derik Bey, Cara (Andrew) Sells, Adam (Samantha) Bey, Broc Bey, Ben (Breanna) Brown, David Lay, Michayla (Luke) Steele, and Levi Van De Grift; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and sister, Bobbie Jean Simpson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deb Hughes; grandson, Scottie Hooker; and siblings, Virgil Smith, William Smith, Allie Grubb, Viola Branson, Alfred Smith, and Gracie Smith.
Pearl was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother who took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In her younger years, she found joy in hunting, fishing, shooting, and riding horses. She carried a lifelong love for the outdoors. She maintained an abundant garden and found deep satisfaction in canning its harvest. Pearl cherished simple pleasures like picnics, decorating, and preparing holiday meals for her family. She had a special affection for animals, especially her faithful dogs, Pooh Bear, Buster, and Elliott. Pearl loved to sing, held a deep love for God, and treasured her church family.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 10 A.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M., and on Thursday from 9:15 A.M. until the time of service. Condolences may be expressed to the family at (ww.cromesfh.com).
