PAUL RICHARD GROSS, 96, of Sidney, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Fair Haven County Home. He was born on October 2, 1921 in Shelby County, Ohio, the son of the late S. Edgar and Freida (Weissinger) Gross. On July 4, 1942 he married the former Gertrude Agnes Vander Horst, who preceded him in death on July 9, 2012.
Paul is survived by son, Stephen L. Gross of Delta, Ohio and daughter, Deborah (John) Minniear of Sidney; three grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Curtis (Jean) Gross of Tennessee and sister-in-law, Tessa Gross of Sidney. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Gross and Devon Gross and one grandchild, Angela Gross.
Paul was W.W.II Navy Veteran from July 1942 to November 1945 in which he served as a Medic on the U S S James O'Hara. Paul was member of the Sidney American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of the Foreign Wars He was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Paul enjoyed camping, square dancing, spending winters in Florida, gardening and spending time with his family.
Funeral Services will be held Monday August 6, 2018 at 1 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave Sidney with Rev. Jonathan W. Schriber officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12 PM until the hour of service.
