PAUL FREDERICK GEPFREY, age 90 of Sidney, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:55 AM at StoryPoint Troy surrounded by his family. He was born on May 8, 1935, in Russia, Ohio, the son of the late Michael and Helen (Schweitzer) Gepfrey.
On May 11, 1957 Paul married Saundra Lea (Shroyer) who survives along with 10 children: Julia Rich of New Albany, Jeff (Rita) Gepfrey of Sidney, Greg (Joyce) Gepfrey of Kettlersville, David (Jennifer) Gepfrey of Piqua, Jerry (Margie) Gepfrey of Anna, Lisa (Scott) Patton of Englewood, Susan (Brian) Moloney, Denise (Rex) Wismar, Alan Gepfrey all of Sidney, and Connie (Jeff) Brenning of Westerville: two siblings, Willis (Pat) Gepfrey of Elba, MI, and Miriam Macke of Mansfield, brother-in-law, Ivo Albers of Celina, sisters-in-law, Fay Gepfrey of Laughlin, NV, and Connie Watercutter of McCartyville, 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, John Gepfrey, five siblings: Rosetta Baltes, Gene Gepfrey, Kate Frankhouser, Theresa Albers, and Jim Gepfrey, son-in-law, Leonard Rich, brothers-in-law, Herman Baltes, Maynard Macke, and Vernon Watercutter, and sister-in-law, Kathy Gepfrey.
In 1996 Paul retired as a machinist from Chrysler Airtemp Corp. of Dayton. He previously worked at Stolle Corp. in Sidney. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in McCartyville, St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy, and McCartyville Knights of Columbus.
Paul enjoyed RVing with his family, restoring John Deere Tractors, keeping machinery running and working with his hands on various projects out in the barns. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park in Covington, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
