Norma R. (Wells) Schlagetter – Norma was born on November 7, 1930 in Owen, Co., Indiana to C.O. and Mable Elizabeth (Need) Wells, both deceased. On December 26, 1952 she was married to the late C. Thomas Schlagetter at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sidney, Ohio.
Norma is survived by her children, Elizabeth A. (Douglas) Nabors, Douglas W. (Karen) Schlagetter and Samuel T. (Martha) Schlagetter; brother, James M. (Nancy K.) Wells; grandchildren, Scot T. (Angie) Nabors, Joshua F. (Whitney) Schlagetter, Erin R. (Nick) Lucchesi, Evan M. (Samantha) Schlagetter, Josephine (Josh) Hoying, Erik T. Schlagetter and Tyler J. Schlagetter; great-grandchildren, Wyatt D., Colton T., Parker N. and Easton J. Lucchesi, Reagan B. and Trenton S. Nabors, and Jordyn N. and Halle M. Hoying; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Lucille and Nancy Sue (Gerald) Kelble.
Norma graduated the class of 1949 from Sidney High School. Following graduation, she attended Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis School of Nursing graduating in June 1952 as a R.N. Later she worked at Wilson Memorial Hospital and then Sidney Medical Group.
Following retirement, she traveled with Tom to visit friends and to follow grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a member of Methodist Hospital Nurses Alumni, Sidney American Legion Auxiliary, and the Old Biddies Club (a group of 1949 classmates), former member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Sidney High Football Moms. She was a longtime member of St John’s Lutheran Church, having served on church council and being a Thrift Shop Volunteer.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 12 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Edmiston officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation of Shelby Co. for Sidney High School Alumni Scholarship Fund at the Courtview Center Suite 202, 100 S, Main St, Sidney Oh or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
