NORBERT JAMES PLATFOOT, 92, of Sidney, passed away at 7:18 P.M. on Friday, October 31, 2025, at The Landings of Sidney. He was born on July 10, 1933, in Anna, Ohio, the son of the late George and Bertha (Behr) Platfoot.
He is survived by his wife, the former Alice Faye Zimpfer; his daughter, Melody (Brian) Small of Vandalia; two stepsons, Tim Laws of Arizona and Brian Laws of California; three grandchildren, Wesley (Abbey) Eppley, Aric (Katie) Eppley, and Abigail (Derek) Richards; three step-grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by thirteen siblings.
Norbert proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957, stationed in Japan. He later worked for Monarch Machine and Tool, where he built lathes, retiring in 1995 after many dedicated years of service.
He was a member of the Sidney American Legion and the Elks. Norbert loved spending time outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying nature. Above all, he loved his family deeply.
A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Deacon Phil Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Loramie Valley Cemetery in Botkins. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 11 A.M. until the time of service.
