Neoma M. (Petrosky) Young

NEOMA M. (PETROSKY) YOUNG, 88, of Sidney passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Fair Haven Shelby County Home. She was born on June 15, 1934, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to the late Charles and Charlotte Marie (Carrier) Petrosky. Neoma married Herbert W. Young, who survives, on May 31, 1955.

Neoma is survived by children Lorie (Jeff) Beigel of Sidney, Chris (Jenifer Way) Young of Delaware, and Tony (Karen Katzenbach) Young of Oklahoma, five grandchildren; Lucas (Casey) Young, Seth, Katherine, Alex, and Jonah; and three great-grandchildren Troy, Tatiana, and Luke. Neoma was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Petrosky and Howard Petrosky.

Neoma was a graduate of Anna High School and received her bachelors degree in English from Wright State University. She retired from Sidney City Schools and volunteered to teach English as a second language in Shelby County.

Neoma was an active gardener at home and was a member of the Rainbow Gardeners of Shelby County, where she served as a past president. She loved flowers, submitted many arrangements to the Shelby County Fair, and studied Japanese Ikebana flower arranging. Neoma was a visual artist, taught piano lessons, and played flute in the Lima Civic Band. She was a member of Sidney First Methodist Church in Sidney.

A private family service will be held with interment at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney.
