Nancy Ruth Thompson

Nancy Ruth Thompson, 89 of Fair Haven Shelby County Home, Sidney, Ohio passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 5:28 pm.  She was born January 14, 1935, the daughter of the late James and Dorotha Jackson.  On December 12, 1954, she married Lloyd E. Thompson, who is now deceased.  She was also preceded in death by her sons, Douglas L. and Michael L., brother, John Jackson and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Ruth Ann Brautigam, Richard Burroughs, John Snavley and Jerry Schoonover.

Surviving are her 3 children, Susan Elsass and husband Rick of Sidney, Jerilyn Link and husband Joe of Mesa, AZ, Cathleen Thompson of Huntington, IN.  Nancy had 2 step-grandchildren, Todd Elsass and wife Erin of New Knoxville, Jared Elsass and wife Robin of Hilliard and 6 step-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by sisters, Janet Schoonover and Virginia Burroughs, sister-in-law, Janet Jackson and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Jinny Thompson and several nieces and nephews.  She loved her family very much.

Nancy was a Registered Nurse and spent her career working at Mary Rutan Hospital.  After retirement, she loved traveling with Lloyd as they enjoyed God’s creations.  She was a member of Sidney First Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank Fair Haven and The Landings of Sidney for all the love and kindness shown to Nancy while she resided in their facilities.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Sidney First Methodist Church, Poplar St, Sidney.   In lieu of flowers and gifts the family requests charitable contributions be made to Fair Haven Shelby County Home, c/o Activity Fund, 2901 Fair Rd, Sidney or Sidney First Methodist Church, 230 E. Poplar St, Sidney or charity of their choice in memory of Nancy R. Thompson.
