MURDLE ALICE BLACKFORD, 92, of Sidney, passed away at 3:50 A.M. Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Shelby Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on March 7, 1933 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of the late Hallie David and Mary (Cassidy) Crager. In December of 1952 she married William Blackford, who preceded her in death in 1986.
Murdle is survived by four children, Joe Blackford, Jeff (Sue) Blackford, Bruce (Lori) Blackford, and Ada Tucker, all of Sidney; nineteen grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Murdle spent most of her working life as a cook. She was a dedicated worker who took great pride in what she did, and her love for cooking extended well beyond her job. Nothing brought her more joy than preparing meals for her family and friends. She would gladly feed anyone who came through her door. Earlier in her career, she also owned and operated her own telephone answering service.
Murdle was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church and devoted her life to faith and family. From her younger days, she found joy in simple moments, like putting powder down on the floor and dancing with her sister. Her family was always her heart. She had a deep love for her children and grandchildren, some of whom she lovingly raised as her own, and she cherished every moment spent doting on her great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
A funeral service will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 at 12 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor James Alter officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery.
