Mildred D. (Preston) Jenkins

MILDRED D. JENKINS, 98 of Sidney, Ohio passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, at 4:26 PM at Ohio Living Dorothy Love. She was born on January 31, 1927, in Wheelwright, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Millard and Perlie (Caudill) Preston, Sr. On June 20, 1959, she married her childhood sweetheart, Henry Jenkins who preceded her in death April 24, 2011.

Mildred is survived by five children: Gary (Mona Fridley) Fletcher, Janet Robbins, Jack (Sandy) Fletcher all of Sidney, Patty Bowersock of St. Marys, and Brenda (Hurstle) Davis of Sidney, 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three children: Johnie Fletcher, Sandra Jenkins Gosnell, and Linda Lou Fletcher. She is also now reunited with her 9 siblings completing the family circle.

Mildred was in food service for many years; working as a waitress in restaurants in the area such as Horn’s and Frisch’s.  She thoroughly enjoyed feeding the residents at Dorothy Love which is where she worked until she retired as an assistant dietary supervisor some 30 years ago.   

Mildred or Millie as many called her was a joy to all who knew her.  If you asked her how she was, she would respond with a resounding, “fat and sassy!”  That was her trademark saying and many loved to hear it.  She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Fairborn, and was a strong Christian woman who loved the Lord.  Second, only to the Lord, she loved her family. 

Many more wonderful things could be said of her, but the pages would not contain the whole. Her legacy continues on in her children and grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mildred will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Brother Duane Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
