Michael "Mike" Trabue Obituary

Michael “Mike” Duane Trabue, 69, of Sidney, passed away at 5:24 A.M., Monday, June 29, 2026, at his residence. He was born on September 17, 1956, to the late George D. Trabue and Edith H. (Paschke) McKee.

On April 12, 2026, Mike married Erin Smith, who survives along with her children, Amyla and Zoey; his three children, Tori (James) Bensman of Anna, Sean (Jordyn) Trabue of Sidney, and Alli (Kyle) Johnson of Piqua. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren: Emma, Simon, Hannah, Robyn, and Leo Bensman; Wyatt, Callan, and Kennedy Trabue; and Vincent and Roman Johnson. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Susan (Kaminski) Trabue (June 9, 2017).

Mike worked as the President of Kirk NationaLease until he retired in 2023, then returned later as Vice President of Sales. He was at Kirk for 25 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge 568, and he served on the Shelby County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Mike loved to golf and was involved in the Tuesday night golf league at the Moose. He was also an enthusiastic member and promoter of the Gillespie Open. His pride and integrity were reflected in everything he did. He loved to stay busy around his Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired property, whether it was tinkering, woodworking, or hosting and entertaining friends and family. Mike didn't know a stranger. He was always telling stories and having a laugh with someone everywhere he went. When he had the chance, he loved coastal vacations and had an appreciation for sailboats. He had a large collection of logo golf balls and ducks. He loved using his professional acuity as a mentor when it came to business. Mike was also known for his great love of all types of music. He will be dearly missed and remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 1 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Dan Gutman officiating.
