Mary Viginia (Mendenhall) Wall of Sidney passed at 10:53 A.M. on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at her residence. She was born December 6, 1936 in Kenton, Ohio, the daughter of the of the late Ward and Thelma (Williams) Mendenhall. She was married to Thomas A. Wall who preceded her in death March 18, 2017.
Additionally, Mary was preceded in death by the following siblings: Richard Mendenhall, Jimmy Mendenhall, Warden J. Mendenhall, Wayne Mendenhall, Gene Spivey, Jack Spivey, Mary Lou Mendenhall, Brenda Mendenhall Rogan, Ronnie Mendenhall Parker, Rohanda Mendenhall Hamilton.
Surviving siblings include: Saundra Cochran, Gahanna, Ohio, Joyce Dorcy, Columbus, Ohio, Joann Allen, New Jersey. Additional relative survivors include: Nephews Scott RM Bush, Sidney, Oh/San Diego, CA, Martin Cochran, Gahanna, Oh, Michael Cochran, Cochran, Gahanna, Oh, Henry Hamilton, Columbus, Oh. Surviving Nieces include: Gail Spivey, Kenton, Oh, Marlene Vaughn, Kenton, Oh, Candice Houdek, Lima, Oh, Perdina Hamilton, Columbus, Oh, as well as several Great Grand Nieces and Nephews.
Before coming to Sidney, Mary attended The Ohio State University and Urbana College, majoring in Social Services. Mary resided here in Sidney for well over 50 years. In that timespan she was employed by Community Action, General Films, Alcoa Memory Products and retired from S & H Industries. Additionally, Mary dedicated her life to service, via her family, church and additional community programs. She was a member of both Payne Chapel AME, Kenton, OH and Connection Point, Sidney OH churches where she served on various committees and generously donated to both churches and their affiliates.
Mary had a unique sense of style in her clothing ensembles. She was keen to fashion trends and an avid/skilled seamstress where in her younger years, she sewed her own clothes. Mary also enjoyed gardening. In the warm summer months, one could find her tending to her flower garden in front of her home.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 1 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 A.M. until the time of service.
