Mary Cupp Obituary

MARY SUSAN CUPP, 63, of Sidney, passed away at 2:19 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at The Ohio State University Medical Center. She was born on March 26, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Allen Warner and the late Sally (Neva) Warner.

On July 4, 2007, Mary married Terry Cupp, who survives. She is also survived by her children, Daniel (Kaila) Strunk of Lima, Alyssa (Samuel Cannady) Strunk of Sidney, and Austin Strunk of Sidney; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her brother, Hank (Christina) Warner; her parents-in-law, Hubert and Marjorie Cupp; her sisters-in-law, Eva (Ken) Doak, Rita (Mike) Roebuck, and Mollie (Robert) Harris; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was a graduate of Sidney High School, Class of 1980, and later earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix. She devoted her life to a career in nursing, beginning with 12 years at Good Samaritan Hospital, followed by 10 years with Wilson Home Health and another 10 years with Ohio Living Dorothy Love. Most recently, Mary worked for Community Health Accreditation Partner, a position that allowed her to travel, something she truly enjoyed. She loved her work and found fulfillment in caring for others. A long-standing family joke was that Mary was not only everyone’s mother, but also everyone’s nurse.

Mary loved animals and cherished the companionship of her dogs, Willow and Gypsy. Music was always an important part of Mary’s life. She loved listening to music and had a natural ability to play nearly any instrument she picked up. She was creative and a gifted painter, and she especially enjoyed hosting and bringing family together. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

Mary loved Jesus and attended Hartford Independent Baptist Church in Spencerville. 2 Corinthians 1:4: “Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”

Family was the center of Mary’s joy. She loved deeply and especially enjoyed doting on her grandchildren. Mary is loved greatly and will be dearly missed.
