MARY MARTHA COVERSTONE, 92, of Sidney, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 9:37 PM at Landings of Sidney. She was born on October 12, 1932, in Shelby County, Ohio, to the late Henry and Emma (Riethman) Brunswick.
On February 11, 1956, she married Marlin "Doc" Lee Coverstone, who preceded her in death on June 14, 2003.
Mary is survived by six children: Paul (Kallie) Coverstone of Canton, GA, Carol (Mark) DeNise, David (Cindy) Coverstone, both of Sidney, Philip (Ruth) Coverstone of St. Henry, Barbara (Neil) Zumberger of Sidney, and Pamela (Gary) Goettemoeller of Versailles; five siblings: Treva Berger, Alberta Behr, Gerald Brunswick, Sandra (Don) Otte, Donna (Donald) Mertz; and sister-in-law, Marianne Brunswick. She was a proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Maurice Brunswick, grandson Christopher DeNise, daughter-in-law Karen Coverstone, brothers-in-law Joe Berger and Norman “Shorty” Behr, and sister-in-law Joan Brunswick.
Mary retired from Fair Haven Shelby County Home where she worked as Housekeeping Supervisor. She was a faithful member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Shelby County PERI Chapter.
Mary was an avid cook and enjoyed canning, gardening, and bird watching. Her love for the outdoors also extended to snowmobiling and cookouts, where she shared precious moments with family and friends. Two of her fondest memories were traveling to Europe on the Ambassadors of Music Tour and visiting her son in Oregon, where she had the joy of dipping her feet into the Pacific Ocean for the first time.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, with Fr. John W. Tonkin officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:00 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
