Mary Catherine (Alexander-Elmore) Bornhorst passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. She was born December 7, 1938 in Sidney, Ohio the daughter of Robert and Virginia (Allen) Alexander, both deceased. She married Ralph J Bornhorst; Curtis Elmore, both deceased
She is survived by: 2 daughters: Maresea (Elmore) Blackwell, Orlando Fl, Sheryl (Elmore) Ditmer, husband Mark, Sidney, OH, 2 sons: Tony Elmore, Sidney, Brian Elmore (Nikki Kisner) Covington, OH, 2 sisters: Ida (Donald) Bodiker Beaufort, SC, Betty (Richard) Whitmore, Minster, OH, 2 brothers: Ronald (late Doretta) Alexander, Sidney, OH, Robert (Jimmie) Alexander, Fort Meyers, FL. She is the proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren
Later in life Mary accomplished her GED and attended Edison State for studies in accounting.
She was employed 13 years at O'Mart, 5 years at Schindler Elevator elevator (along with her sister Ida) and 2 years with Murray, Wels, Wendeln & Robinson CPA's.
In her younger years as a parent, Mary was a Girl Scout leader and member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was active many years on a championship team in Sidney's Women's Bowling Association, and served as a volunteer in several other community organizations.
She loved serving as an intercessor in prayer for her friends and family - those here locally, in her FaceBook community, and globally in missions.
She was a champion at gardening - growing beautiful flowers and raising vegetables. She loved feeding and watching the hummingbirds, finches, cardinals and other kinds of birds in her yard. She enjoyed listening to music and singing along with Christian worship, country Gospel, and favorites from the 50's. She danced when she was young and looked so forward to having all the energy and ability to dance as long as she wants to in heaven! She also enjoyed spending hours and hours putting together puzzles, doing Sudoku and would nab anyone who was willing to sit down to play cards, Mexican train or Yahtzee. In the years her health allowed her to do so, she loved to travel and explore new places.
Mary attended Sidney First Church of the Nazarene and even after not being able to attend, was cared for wonderfully by her Pastor, Chad Wilson.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 14 at 11:00 A.M. with calling hours one hour prior at the Sidney First Church of the Nazarene, 1899 Wapakoneta Ave. Sidney with Pastor Chad Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.
