Marvelene Mitchell

Heaven got another angel. Marvelene (Howell) Mitchell, 91 of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, December 29th at Ohio Living Dorothy Love. She was the nicest, kindest person ever. She touched so many lives. She was a friend to all who knew her.

            Marvelene was born November 5, 1930, at her parent’s home in Green Township. She was the daughter of the late Walter F. Howell and Florence (Middleton) Howell. She was a 1948 graduated of Green Township High School. She married Richard Mitchell on November 13, 1950, who preceded her in death. They were married for 61 years.

            Marvelene’s only surviving sister is June (Ronald) Laughlin. She is preceded in death by one brother, Willard (Edith May) Howell, and three sisters, Dorothy (John) Moore, Mary Evelyn (Bob) Hageman, and her twin sister, Charlene (Sam) Fogt. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews.

            Marvelene retired after 27 years of working at Copeland. She had also been employed over the years at Stolle and Holloway.

            Marvelene and Dick had lived in Quincy, a farm on St Rt 47 in Logan County and at Indian Lake. After his passing, she moved to Sidney to be closer to family.

            Marvelene and Dick loved to travel and often took trips to the Wildes of Canada. They boated and waterskied in Quincy at the river, Cumberland Lake and Indian Lake. Marvelene loved to sew and made several quilts. She also liked to garden and can her produce. She was famous to her family for her butterscotch pie, which she would always bring to family reunions. She was also an avid Buckeye fan in her later years.

            A gathering of family and friends will by held from 9:30 a.m. to until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Kris Geise, officiating. Burial will follow at the Plattsville Cemetery.
