Mark Henman Obituary

MARK DONALD HENMAN, age 61 of Sidney, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 10:05 PM at Wilson Health. He was born on July 22, 1961 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Donald and Nancy (Freisthler) Henman of Sidney.

On June 5, 2021 Mark married Scarlet Eve (Ashworth) who survives along with two sons; Craig (Courtney) Henman of Galloway, OH, and Bradley (Erica) Henman of DeGraff, OH, grandson, Barrett Henman, two brothers; Michael (Julie) Henman, and Mitchell (Lorri) Henman both of Sidney, two nephews; Jordon Henman and Hugh McKenzie, and three nieces; Alex Henman, Claire Henman and Ellie Henman. He was preceded in death by brother, Matthew Henman.

Mark is the oldest of Don and Nancy's four boys.  He grew up on their family farm. As a child he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball, FFA, the fair, shooting muzzleloaders and rock n' roll.  Shortly after high school he started his career at the Shelby County Sheriff's office through the Junior Deputy Program.  He graduated from Police School and started working in the Shelby County Jail.  Taking the advice of Sheriff Lenhart, he never passed up an opportunity to advance.  He took every training and education class that was offered to him.  He went from a Road Deputy to the Detective Section to the rank of Lieutenant in charge of the jail.  During that time, he also became the Lead Sniper and Commander of the SWAT Team.  Later on in his 37-years as a Deputy Sheriff, he became a Resource Officer for Sidney City and Fairlawn Local Schools.  Also, during that time, he and his wife Scarlet ran Tactical Solutions together.

Mark had many hobbies.  His favorites were shooting, hunting, fishing, the Buckeyes, The Reds, and going to Rock Concerts.  He competed in the military shoots at Camp Perry and the Black Powder Cartridge Rifle Shoots at Friendship, IN.  He was a life member of the Shelby County Deer Hunters.

The most important part of life to Mark is his family.  He and his first wife Lynn raised two amazing sons.  Mark loved coaching and watching his boys play sports. After the boys grew up, they brought him even more happiness by marrying two wonderful girls.  One of the biggest joys in his life was when he became a Grandpa. Mark's favorite time of the year is Christmas. Getting together with his whole family and spending time with them put the biggest smile on his face.  He was a very proud man.  The people that he let crack open that hard shell found that inside was the most soft hearted, caring and loving man that ever lived.  His life was too short.  He'll never now how much of a difference he made in so many peoples lives.  You are loved and missed everyday Mark.  You will never be forgotten!
