Maria Kathleen (Gleason) Richard

MARIA KATHLEEN (GLEASON) RICHARD, age 57 of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 1:05 PM at her home. She was born on January 23, 1967, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of Frank James Gleason Jr. of Sidney and the late Jane (Houldsworth) Gleason.

On September 6, 1991 Maria married Jon Richard who survives along with three children: Devin (Erin) Richard of Tampa, FL, Connor Richard of Troy, OH, and Logan Richard of Denver, CO, two brothers: Tim (Amy) Gleason, and Brian (Vickie) Gleason both of Sidney, OH, three grandchildren: Carter Michael Richard, Cash Jordan Richard, and Rilynn Grace Richard, and nieces and nephews: Lucas Richard, Holly (Gleason) Wilkes, Erica, Lauren, Matt, Shaun, Grant, Alex, and Madison Gleason. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Terry Francis Gleason, Michael Joseph Gleason, and Daniel Patrick Gleason.

Maria was a graduate of Lehman High School Class of 1985. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Dayton in 1989. She was a loving mother of three, and a member of Charity League, Bunko, Child Guidance, and the YMCA, and a life member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.

Maria loved nothing more than being a mother to her three sons. Maria always kept her faith close to her heart as a true believer in God. She was an excellent cook, avid book reader and loved to travel. Maria could shop with the best of them and enjoyed entertaining others and making everyone laugh. She loved a sunny beach, any day at the lake boating and swimming, and skiing in Aspen. Her family was the most important thing to her along with her true affinity for all pets and animals. Meeting Maria means you always walked away with a special lifetime memory. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. John W. Tonkin officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 7 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
