MARCIA EVANGELINE ATKINSON, 88, of Sidney passed away Friday, December 13, 2024 at her residence. She was born on October 9, 1936 in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter to Vernon and Ethna (Hoover) Carey. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Atkinson; both parents; and her brother, Richard “Dick,” and sister-in-law, Pauline Carey.
Marcia leaves behind her children, Bonnie (Danny) Loomis of Billingsley, AL, Barry (Rhonda) Gill of New Bremen, Bobby Gill of Sidney, Brenda (John) Jackson of Sidney, Belinda Fetters and fiancé Robert Fleck of Uniopolis, Brent (Billie Jo) Gill of Anna, Bettina (Terry) Brown of Jackson Center, Benjamin “Benjy” (Pamela) Gill of Port Jefferson, Bevan Gill of Anna, and Rosanna (David) Bryson of Arcanum; 33 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
Marcia retired from Copeland Corporation. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Marcia enjoyed tending to her garden, growing flowers and vegetables, and baking desserts to share. She also enjoyed taking pictures to enter into the Shelby County Fair. Some of her happiest moments were spent bowling or playing board games with her children. Christmas was especially meaningful to Marcia. She always made it a special occasion for her family, with home-cooked meals and board games on Christmas Eve. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 1 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Berryman officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church in Marcia’s memory.
