Lynne Rike Herndon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother Lynne Rike Herndon of Nashville, TN on Dec. 8, 2023. She was 91 years old. Born November 11, 1932 to Kenneth Floyd Rike and Pauline Sturm Rike. Lynne was raised in Sidney, Ohio. After graduating from Sidney High School, Lynne studied music at Muskingum University. After marriage and eventual residence in Nashville, Lynne would enjoy working in several capacities. She was an administrative assistant with the Department of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University for many years. Lynne would go to say that her most rewarding job and happiest times were when at home raising her four children.

Lynne is preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Horace Herndon, her former husband Alonzo John Lindsey, infant son Christopher Allen Lindsey, sister Corlyss Dillard, brother-in-law Kenneth Dillard and sister-in-law Linda Massie.

She is survived by her children, Scott Lindsey (Beth), Sally Lindsey, Stephany Glenn, Shannon Stutsman (Chris) grandchildren, Christopher Glenn (Brittany), Cory Glenn (Rosa), Aaron Crowe, Abby Crowe, Madeline Lindsey, Alec Lindsey, great grandchildren Athen and Walton Glenn, nieces and nephews Rachael Cain (John) Rebecca Swift (Chris) Mark Dillard (Della) Kelly Wright (Dave) Ty Massie (Nancy) Chad Massie (Nona) and special friend John Hill.

Lynne will be remembered for numerous hobbies and passions which include love of classical music, playing her cello, piano, love of flowers, and creative writing. Her most memorable attribute is that of being a wonderful human being that we will love forever.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, December 16th 2023, 2:30 p.m. in the Scales Chapel at West End United Methodist Church, 2200 West End Avenue, Nashville, TN. A visitation will be held beforehand between 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

A graveside service will be held, Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at 12:00 noon. Cedar Point Cemetery, State Route 706, Pasco, Ohio
