Lloyd Wiford Obituary

LLOYD DALE WIFORD, 90, of Sidney, was born on October 22, 1935 to the late Leo and Ethel (Stewart) Wiford. He was welcomed into his Savior’s presence on March 15, 2026.

Lloyd was born into the large Wiford clan called the “191ers” due to the birth order of 1 girl, 9 boys, 1 girl. Lloyd graduated from Sidney High School and married the love of his life, Nancy Jane Cotterman, in 1953. They shared 61 years of marriage and were blessed with five children: the late Rodney Lee Wiford; Belinda “Sue” Smith of Findlay; John Richard Wiford and Sherry Lynne Carter, both of Sidney; and the late Melissa “Kay” Wiford.

Lloyd is survived by his grandchildren, Kelly Hicks, Krysta Beekman, Brandon Wiford, Ryan Smith, Jennifer Timmons, Shea Wiford, Tasha Wilson-Seipel, and Bailey Carter; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Daniel (Phyllis) Wiford, Paul (Barb) Wiford, Samuel (Judy) Wiford, Steve (Linda) Wiford, and Doris Dressan; and sister-in-law, Sandy Wiford. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy; his grandson, Matthew Smith; siblings, Dorothy (Richard) Slepicka, Robert (Norma) Wiford, Curtis Wiford, Larry (Florence) Wiford, Gil Wiford; and brother-in-law, Richard Dressman.

Lloyd retired from Monarch Machine Tool Company after 44 years of service. He was a faithful member of Pasco Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years and served as a past board chairman. A man of strong faith and service, Lloyd was devoted to helping others.

He served for many years on the Salvation Army advisory board and rang the red kettle bell with his brothers “forever!” Lloyd was involved with IUTIS for more than 60 years and holds the distinction of being the first player to become a club member. He was also a member of the Lions Club at both the local and district levels, an enthusiastic supporter of local sports through the years, and a past Boy Scout leader. In addition, he was a member of the Shelby County Historical Society and an active member of the Sidney Senior Center, where he also served on the board.

Lloyd loved a good joke or story, whether he was the one telling it or enjoying it. He enjoyed baseball, golf, gambling, and card games, and especially loved being around people. He often said, “We gather for good fellowship.” Now in Heaven, he is enjoying the best fellowship of all.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at Pasco Methodist Church with Pastor Don Burley officiating. His final resting place will be at Shelby Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions may be made to Pasco United Methodist Church in Lloyd’s memory.
