Lee Greer Obituary

LEE ROY GREER, 88, of Sidney, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born on March 1, 1932 in Kettlersville, Ohio, the son of the late Arvil and Helen (Waterman) Greer. On June 20, 1953 he married the former Charlotte Droege, who preceded him in death in July of 2003.

Lee is survived by four children, Randy Greer, Elaine (Dmitri) Williams, and Michael Greer, all of Sidney, and Craig "Rosey" Greer of Statesville, NC; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joan Greer of Sidney; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Valerie Livermore of The Villages, FL. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Robert.

Lee was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War. He was retired from Norcold where he was employed as a quality engineer for more than 30 years. Many would also know him from his years as the co-owner of Greer's Carryout in Sidney. Lee was a long time member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ. He was a member of the Sidney Elks, serving as chaplain for many years, and also a member of the American Legion Post 217, AMVETS, VFW and Eagles, all in Sidney.

Lee had a heart for helping others. He assisted as a volunteer caretaker for residents of The Villages in Florida, a second home and primary residence for him for more than 16 years. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing cards, and anything that involved good company among his friends and family.

Due to the current pandemic, a Private Service will be held for the family. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Lee's memory. Condolences may be expressed to Lee's family at, www.cromesfh.com
