Larry Eldon Gockley, 71, of Sidney, passed away on May 25, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. at his residence. He was born on February 26, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Donald and Shirley (Dunbar) Gockley.
On April 12, 1975, he married Janice (Strayer) Gockley, who survives along with their two children, Chris (Tracey) Gockley of Sidney, and Michelle (TJ) Dorsey of Batavia; six grandchildren, Troy, Connor, and Piper Gockley, and Brice Davis-Landrum, all of Sidney, and Cooper and Nora Dorsey of Batavia; two siblings, Jim (Theresa Sanger) Gockley and Dave (Cindy) Gockley, both of Colorado; brother-in-law, Alan (Kristi) Strayer of Arcanum; and sisters-in-law, Mary Pence of Houston, Carol (Bruce) Cron of Fletcher, and Cheryl Carr of Troy. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Walter and Norma Strayer.
Larry was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes football, but he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, including soccer, wrestling, baseball, and football. Larry enjoyed creating art, was talented at woodworking, and loved taking care of his cats. He was known as the jokester of the family, always ornery and quick with a joke. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Day City Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery.
