Kenneth J. "Kenny" Gaylor Jr., 70, of Sidney, passed away on January 21, 2026 at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County in Troy, Ohio after a courageous three-year battle with glioblastoma (brain cancer).
Kenny was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky, on December 15, 1955, to the late Thelma G. Baseore. He leaves behind his significant other of 21 years, Jeanie Boerger. Kenny has two step-sons and four grandchildren, Eric (Kristi) Boerger from Pickerington, OH and their children Kara and Rory; Ryan (Samantha) Boerger from Newnan, GA and their children Henry and Elle. Kenny is also survived by his siblings, Darlene (Dan) Davis of Centerville, OH, and Bobbie Jo (Dave) Stewart of Jackson, MI, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma and stepfather, Robert L. Baseore; his brother, David L. (Sandy) Gaylor; brother-in-law, Michael Ferguson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Forrest and Shirley Rose; niece, Katina Rose; and the family dog, Addy.
Kenny graduated from Sidney High in 1974. He worked at Everyday Technologies and eventually retired from Gardner Denver/LeRoi. In addition to his career in manufacturing, he owned Buckeye Mowing and Maintenance for 38 years. Many of his customers became like family to him.
He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals. Kenny enjoyed sprint car dirt track races with his brother David and a sunrise round of golf with this best friend, Rick. In Kenny’s younger years, he played softball for the White Front and Piqua Eagles softball teams. He also earned a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and enjoyed scuba diving.
Kenny had several soft spots in his heart, the biggest for his grandchildren! He would beam when the grandkids called him Papaw. He created Broadway Santa in memory of Ines Phillips, whom Kenny considered his second Mom. Playing Broadway Santa brought such joy to Kenny. He loved listening to the children and helping to be a part of the Christmas magic. To the hundreds of children and parents that came each year to see him, please know that you were a highlight of his favorite holiday.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Wilson Health, Wilson Physical Therapy, and Ohio Hospice of Miami County for their help and devotion.
Kenny will be remembered for his a loyalty, kindness and generosity; he was a friend to many and he will be sorely missed.
