Julia "Judy" A. (Vordemark) Stevenson-Knoop

JULIA "JUDY" A. STEVENSON-KNOOP, 84, of Sidney passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 6:43 AM at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy. She was born on January 26, 1937 in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Merlin and Amy (Finkenbine) Vordemark.

Judy married Roger W. Stevenson her high school sweetheart after graduation from Sidney High School in 1954. Tragically he was struck and killed by lightning but left behind a son Roger W. (Ann) Stevenson of Cape Coral, FL. She then married Herschel S. Knoop on June 27, 1959, leaving behind not only Roger but daughters Lori (J.D.) Knupp of Sidney, Kathy (Mark) Bercot of Piqua, and Amy (Tony) Stemen of Sidney. 

She is survived by 9 grand-children: Mandy (Mark) Hudson of Newnan, GA., Ryan (Michelle) Stevenson of Cape Coral, FL., Zack Knupp of Piqua, Bradley Bercot (Kara Gress-Hancock) of Piqua, Bryan (Brittany) Bercot of Huber Heights, Brandon (Cara) Bercot of Piqua, Abby (Garrett) Smith of Piqua, Mack Knupp (Kaitlin Gillman) of Sidney and Annie Stemen of Sidney. She also had 6 great-grandchildren: Jordan and Kyla Hudson, Gavin and Gabe Stevenson, Garrett Bercot, and Emma Bercot who affectionately called her "Maw Knoop". Judy is also survived by siblings, John (Marcia) Vordemark of Sidney and Jane Hicks of Vandalia.

In addition to her husband Herschel S. Knoop who preceded her in death August 1, 2020, Judy was preceded in death by great grandson, Trevor Hudson and brother-in-law, Raymond Hicks.

Judy loved her family and opened her home to all their friends and extended families. She was the "typical" homemaker to her farmer husband. She was the cook, housekeeper, ran laundry detail, was a nurse, doctor and veterinarian to the many cats and kittens that she loved. She was the chauffeur, the seamstress, beautician and could even be seen on the tractor baling hay. She was a member of Greenview United Church of Christ where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Leader and served on many committees. She loved a good card game, good friends, traveling in her earlier years and her family. 

Please join us as we celebrate Judy's life on Saturday June 5, 2021 at 10 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave Sidney with Rev. Larry Grunden Sr. and Rev. Jim Oates officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, June 4, 2021 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
