Judy Darlene (Gibbs) Rookard

Judy Darlene Rookard, age 80 of Sidney, Ohio, passed away on the morning of Saturday, September 13, 2025, at TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio.

She was born on April 26, 1945, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Marion and Freda (Dresback) Gibbs.

Judy is lovingly remembered by her three children: Brenda (Randy) Echols of Sidney, Gary (Shelly) Ginter of Bellefontaine, and Shelly Frasure of Sidney. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Cory (Jill) Echols, Darian (Tarah) Ginter, Garrick (Katie) Ginter, Connor (Taylor) Echols, Kylee Ginter, and Logan Frasure, and great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren: Daxton, Gunnar, Drayden, Lily, Madeline, and Roddy.

She is also survived by her sister, Janet (Gene) Strohmenger of Glendale, AZ; her half-sister, Sharon Sloan of Cincinnati; her stepsister, Shirley (Steve) Edwards of Sidney; and her stepbrother, Jerry (Becky) Langenkamp of Sidney. Judy was preceded in death by her sister, Janice Elsass, and stepmother, Margaret Gibbs.

Judy was someone who never met a stranger. She attended Pasco Methodist Church and retired from Walmart, where she worked as a greeter and brought smiles to countless customers over the years. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family and friends, all of whom she cherished deeply.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Burley officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Judy’s final resting place will be at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney at a later date.
