JOSEPH (JOE) ROBERT HARSHBARGER, age 70 of Sidney, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 4pm at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 30, 1951 in Sidney Ohio, the son of the late Robert and Ruth (Jackson) Harshbarger. On July 21, 1979 he married his life's love, Teckla Shenk, who survives.
Joe is survived by four children, Rachelle (Philip) Van Winkle of Chapel Hill, N.C, Jonica (Brad) Bergman of Osgood, OH, Andrew (Poppy) Harshbarger of Yorktown, Virginia, and Leah (Matt) Snow of Springfield, OH. Six grandchildren, Charlie Van Winkle, Chloe, Nora, and Logan Bergman, Leilana and Ayana Harshbarger. Also surviving, siblings, Rachel Larger of Versailles, OH, Rosalee (John) Horn of Sidney, OH, Roberta Pitts of Lakeview, OH, Ruby (Bob) Sibert of Sidney, OH. In-laws, Mary (Joe) Sharp of Harrod, OH, Tanya Shenk of Bellvue, CO, Jonella (Craig) Brewer of Springfield, OH, Precia (Ed) Stuby of Deshler, OH, Barth Shenk of Bellbrook, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father in-law, Warren and Grace Shenk, a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Carol Harshbarger, brothers in-law, Ed Larger and Dan Pitts.
Joe graduated from Anna High School where he formed lifelong friendships and added many friends along the way. He went into farming for 11 years, and later worked at C.H. Masland for 4.5 years before he retired from Honda of America after 25 years. Joe had a love for traveling and experiencing new things. He had been to 46 states and 12 foreign countries and his favorite traveling companion was always his wife, Teckla. He loved a good joke and prank and always said his mind was full of useless information, but most of all, he loved being with his family and friends and especially his grandkids, all of whom he loved dearly and was very proud of.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 2pm-5pm at Cromes -Edwards Funeral Home in Sidney, OH. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at the funeral home. The family asks that masks be worn at the visitation.
