John “Tom” Thomas Whitehead, 72, of Sidney, passed away June 13, 2026, at Upper Valley Hospital. He was born on May 6, 1954, in Troy, Ohio, to the late John and Helen (Driscoll) Whitehead.
On February 18, 1984, Tom married Kathy (Lewis) Whitehead, who survives him along with their two children, Ashley (Luke) Kelly of Findlay and Bryan Whitehead of Sidney. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Brayden Whitehead, Camden Kelly, Shayne Kelly, and Rivers Kelly. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Linda (Whitehead) Drake, Mavis (Whitehead) McCarty, and Nancy (Conley) Quillen. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Ollie Conley, and his brother-in-law, Ralph “Duck” Drake and Randall Lewis.
A 1972 graduate of Sidney High School, Tom worked at Shelby Manufacturing for 13 years then he worked at Honda Manufacturing for another 27 years. While at these places Tom made a lot of great friends. Tom was known to have a quick wit and had a great sense of humor that could light up any room. he was also an avid football fan who loved supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals. He was also a fan of the Cincinnati Reds. Tom loved to spend time with his friends and tinker on cars. Whenever he could, Tom loved to get away and go on vacation with his family. Tom had a deep love for his dog, Bailey, but above all, he loved his grandchildren and cherished spending time with them. Tom leaves behind numerous and numerous friends who all loved him deeply.
A celebration of life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 1 PM, at Lighthouse Ministries, Sidney. Condolences may be given to the family at (www.cromesfh.com).
