John "Mike" Michael Slonaker

JOHN MICHAEL SLONAKER, age 69 of Sidney, passed away Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:05 AM at Vancrest-Upper Valley in Troy, Ohio. He was born on June 15, 1956, in Greenville, Ohio, the son of John R. (Linda) Slonaker of Troy, Ohio and the late Marcia (Worthington) Slonaker.

On November 19, 1988 Mike married Denise “Dee” (Boblit) who survives along with four children: Chad (fiancé Sarah Wesbecher) Slonaker of Sidney, Travis Slonaker of Oakwood, OH, Allison (Pius) Zaleski of Dublin, OH, and Matthew Slonaker of Westerville, OH, three grandchildren: Beckett Zaleski, Addyson, and Kayden Wesbecher, sister, Stephanie Favorite, niece, Chelsea (Jeff) Applegate, and great-niece Caitlyn.

Mike was a graduate of Sidney High School class of 1974 and attended Clark State. He owned and operated the Shell Gas Stations in Sidney and Troy. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds fan, holding season tickets to the Reds games for many years. He was a dedicated runner, competing in numerous marathons including NYC, Marine Core, Indianapolis, and the Flying Pig. He also enjoyed golf, whether it was playing with his boys, going to the Memorial Tournament, or watching it on TV.  

Funeral Services for Mike will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Jon Guey officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
