John Moen Obituary

John Jay Moen was born December 10, 1944 to Olaf and Ruth Moen. John was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He served in the Navy for 4 years. He met his wife Jane in 1966 and they were married on October 22 that same year. John and Jane started a family bringing three children into this world. He worked for the State Prison in South Dakota for 8 years. In 1973 John moved his family to Wisconsin where he began his career at FCI Oxford. John retired in January of 1998. He spent his retirement involved in various different adventures including delivering RV's cross country, transporting engineers, and working surveillance for Ho-Chunk Casino. He truly found his perfect retirement activity when he accepted the landlord position for the apartments across the street from where he lived. He cared for all of his residents and did everything within his power to keep them happy and created many friendships. In December of 2019, John and his wife moved to a wonderful retirement community in Sidney OH to be closer to his son Jay. John was a loving and kind Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, and friend. He would give away his last dollar if it meant he could help someone. He had strong faith and a good relationship with the Lord. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

John was proceeded in death by his parents, Olaf and Ruth Moen, Father-in-Law Don Lowe and Sister-in-Law Linda Lowe.
